What is life? Life is movement.

From the particles that create us, to our cells, organs and even our thoughts,

movement is the essence of life. When everything is moving as it should in the body,

we can live our life to the fullest. Our blood can get to every cell of the body and deliver

nutrients and oxygen while clearing any toxins and waste materials from the cells.

As long as we are healthy, we have our mind free to think healthy and fresh thoughts, solve our problems and plan our life the way we want.

Problems often occur with stagnation. This can be at one or many levels: from our life, blood or thoughts, when something feels stuck, we stop enjoying life and loose focus and the ability to keep our life on track.

It can be physical stagnation due to one's job, such as sitting all day in front of a computer in a compromised posture, or working long hours without finding time for physical activity. This can lead to muscle strain and feeling of needing to rest. As a result, people spend free time on the couch in a compromised position, or sleep.

Our body is designed to handle whatever pressure is applied and adapts to the requirements presented to it. Muscles and joints will always find the way to redistribute forces and adjust, so one's eyes are leveled and the person can stand more or less upright.

Although, as we grow older, life takes its toll. Various life events and the way we treated our bodies over the years manifest in the spine. Twists and changes of force in the spine lead to muscles working in inefficient ways, gradually get tighter and eventually joints can get compacted. When a joint is held away from its natural position, a lot of people carry on their lives without noticing anything, until one day we have unexplained pain somewhere in the body.

Often people go for many years until they get their body examined, as we have no social norms that make us do maintenance checks every year. If we took care of our bodies at least as good as we take care of our cars, we would have been in a better place.

Just remember, the body can go on dealing with everything you throw at it. Most people can handle a lot more then they realize, but, and that's a big one: there is a limited amount of resources, and once you cross that line you are likely to have consequences to deal with.

So, how to go about it? Well, the easiest thing you can do is to go to an osteopath and get and assessment as well as treatment . This will usually provide short term relief, improvement of symptoms and might even improve your health and well-being.

More importantly, in the long run, you need to get moving. Movement is life. Keep moving in a healthy and gentle way, swim, do sports, go for a walk or a run, do stretches, yoga or pilates, take on martial arts. Do anything that will make you move more - you will feel the difference in just a few weeks. And then we can start talking about nutrition :)
